Birth of NMIS

  • Oct. 1,1972- established by virtue of P.D. 7  as National Meat Inspection Commission

R. A. 9296 or the Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines

  • Enacted on May 2004
  • Renamed NMIS into National Meat Inspection Service
  • IRR signed into A. O. 28

Mandate

  • Promulgates and implements policies, procedures, guidelines, rules and regulations governing post-production flow of livestock, meat, and meat products through inspection, processing, storage and preservation. In the same manner, NMIS shall protect the interest of consuming public and shall endeavor for the development of livestock and meat industry.

 Vision

  • A dynamic regulatory agency with competent and dedicated human resources committed to provide excellent meat inspection service that is responsive to consumer’s welfare and globally competitive meat and meat product industry.
